Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2026
Your privacy is fundamental to Divorce Navigator. This policy explains what data we collect, how we protect it, and what rights you have over it.
1. Data We Collect
We collect and store only the information you provide directly:
- Account information: email address, name, and authentication credentials
- Financial data: assets, debts, income, expenses, and related details you enter for organizational purposes
- Documents: files you upload to the document vault
- Notes and research: text content you create within the application
- Professional contacts: information about professionals you track (attorneys, financial advisors, etc.)
- Scenario data: settlement scenarios and alimony models you build
2. Encryption and Security
We take the security of your data seriously, especially given the sensitive nature of divorce-related information.
- Encryption at rest: Sensitive fields (such as Social Security numbers) are encrypted using AES-256 with a dedicated encryption key stored separately from the database
- Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS)
- Document storage: Uploaded files are stored in encrypted cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) with presigned URLs for secure access
- Multi-factor authentication: Optional TOTP and WebAuthn support for additional account security
3. No Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Your financial information, documents, and other data are never disclosed to outside parties unless required by law.
4. No Third-Party Scripts on Sensitive Pages
We do not load third-party scripts (analytics, advertising, social media widgets) on pages that display your financial data, documents, or other sensitive information. This minimizes the risk of data exposure through browser-side code.
5. Cookies
We use only session cookies that are essential for the application to function. These cookies maintain your login session and CSRF protection. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party cookies.
6. AI Usage Disclosure
Divorce Navigator includes optional AI-powered features that use the Anthropic Claude API. These features are:
- Clearly identified throughout the application with visual indicators
- Feature-flagged and can be disabled entirely
- Scoped in data transmission: when AI features are used, only the minimum necessary context is sent to Anthropic to generate a response. We do not send your entire dataset.
The application functions fully without an AI connection. AI features are supplementary and never required.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You have the right to:
- Export your data at any time through the application's export features
- Delete individual records (assets, documents, notes, etc.) at any time
- Delete your entire account through the Settings page, which permanently removes all associated data including uploaded documents
When you delete your account, all data is permanently removed. This action cannot be undone.
8. Data Isolation
Each account is strictly isolated. There is no shared access, no multi-user accounts, and no mechanism by which one user can view another user's data. Authorization checks enforce this at every level of the application.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the application. The "last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
10. Contact
If you have questions about this privacy policy or your data, please reach out at hello@divorce-plan.com.
